Size Guides + Up Next (Feb 11, 2024)

I'm excited to roll into February with some new updates for the Patina Project community! A heartfelt thanks to everyone who's been engaging with me through the new support portal—this greatly helps me streamline how I can meet your Patina Project or Thunderdome-related needs!

Please update to the newest Patina Project version to enjoy all the new features. Now, let's see what I've been cooking up this month.

Sizing is one of the most crucial decisions you need to make when ordering new boots. At Patina Project, I want to equip you with all the knowledge you need to make informed footwear decisions. I am very excited to unveil how Patina Project Size Guides can help you determine the perfect size for your next pair of boots.

But first, I want to give a huge shout-out to Martin Ristovski, creator of WeltedWiki, for sharing his shoe sizing expertise and early feedback to help design the first version of this tool. Thank you, Martin! 🙇

Now, onto the tour...

You can find the size guide on any product page by expanding the section.

Each size guide will include a recommendation from the maker.

Next, you will be able to view a size recommendation based on what others are wearing in Patina Project. The most commonly picked size option will be read out in a plain sentence.

If you want a more specific recommendation, you may also filter the data down to your own Brannock size, or another specific size.

If the last comes in different widths, a width recommendation will be available as well. Just like sizes, you can filter the data to a specific width.

Finally, to view personal experiences with sizing, you can view all the fit notes by owners for the last! These fit notes can be filtered by selecting a size and width as well.

Please note that these charts and recommendations will not be immediately available for all lasts. In order to ensure that Patina Project gives the most helpful size recommendations possible, each last and its related size data needs to be carefully reviewed before it can be displayed.

Have you opened a Patina Project link and got stuck in the album, unable to return to the feed without resetting the app? Now, you can press any active tab to return to its top-level screen. This improvement makes the app more intuitive to use when needing to return home.

Pressing an active tab when scrolled down a list will also bring you back to the top. Handy!

Recently, I shared preliminary designs for the future of the Patina Project app on our Discord channel. I received some great responses about some of the new ideas, and I truly appreciate everyone's enthusiasm. Your feedback helps continually adjust Patina Project's trajectory while keeping it on target.
